IntheMorningPostofJanuary7，1800，hadappearedthecorrespondencebetweenBuonaparteandLordGrenville，inwhichBuonapartemadeanofferofpeace.LordGrenvillesNote，itwaspointedoutintheMorningPostforJanuary16，wasreallywrittenbyWilliamWindham，SecretaryforWar，andonJanuary22appearedanarticlecloselycriticisingitsgrammar.
